This morning Brad and I became an Uncle & Aunt a second time over! My sister had her baby boy back home in North Carolina at 10:06 am and a healthy 6 lb 12oz.

We're sad that we couldn't be there to be with you all today and enjoy his newborn-ness, but cannot wait to meet him soon!! Congratulations on the baby boy Sis, Grahm & McKenna!

Welcome to the world, Jake Kelson!!
We LOVE you so much!

My Bride's Birthday!!

Dani has been getting on me because I have been meaning to write a post about her birthday, but just haven't gotten around to it; so, only a few days late (December 14th), here we go!

Since the middle of October, I was down on the east coast of NC in Craven County helping oversee the cleanup from Hurricane Irene; so, needless to say, Dani and I had to endure spending several months only getting to see each other about twice a month. When the project ended, the weekend before her birthday, I figured this would be a great time for us to get away and spend some time together, as well as, celebrate her birthday! The trip was our adventure to our nation's capital, which we both thoroughly enjoyed and you can read about in the separate post about her birthday; however, I think the part she enjoyed the most was getting lunch brought to her at school and then getting breakfast in bed at a later date.

On our way back from DC my car was having some problems, so we dropped it off late at night at our mechanic and went home. The only problem was that I had locked my car and dropped my keys in the LATE DROP OFF box before realizing that my cell phone and wallet were still locked in my car. That made for a good laugh, but I was unable to bring lunch to her school, as promised, on her birthday due to the fact that I couldn't drive without a license. Therefore, it was up to me to make it up. The first day I had my driving priviledges back, she endulged in Chick-Fil-A for lunch and was met by Oscar and I to pick her up after school. A few days later, she was met with the breakfast of champions in bed prepared by her two special guys, Oscar and me! She loved it all! I know she can't wait for so many more special days! Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife!!

Happy Belated Birthday, Mere!

On Sunday, December 18, my youngest Sister-in-Law turned 15! During her birthday weekend, we were in Rocky Mount celebrating Christmas with Kim's side of the family. So rest assured, we celebrated appropriately and we got her an enormous amount of gum as requested.

So here goes: Happy Birthday Meredith :D We love you!

It's been a while

Updates on life, recipes, pictures, birthdays... I've been slacking.
Dinner at Kabuto

Since Brad's birthday, he went down to Havelock to do Hurricane Irene clean up. He's been down there a few weeks now, and probably a while longer. We miss each other tremendously and I've had the opportunity to visit him once so far. We had a dinner date at a yummy Japanese restaurant and went out to the Maritime Museum in Morehead City one afternoon to see the Blackbeard Display. We're not sure how much longer he'll be out east, but he'll be able to come  home for Thanksgiving! Yay :)

I've been working as a Substitute and a K-5 tutor which is working out really well and bringing in a little extra for the both of us (very helpful with Christmas around the corner!).

Lots of recipes to share... individual meat loafs, PUMPKIN ROLL, chicken dishes, dips, did I mention a pumpkin roll? I'll try to get to posting some of them asap.

As far as birthdays go, my niece McKenna turned 2 on October 17th. She's precious and I absolutely love being her aunt! Below is a picture of her 'eating' a kiwi from a food playset she got at her party. Precious. Below is her birthday cake, which was fabulously crafted by my cousins! The party was Minnie Mouse themed.

Thats about all the update I can think of for now. I'll try to be a more diligent blogger in November!

Happy Birthday Brad!

On this day, 24 years ago my best friend, husband and love of my life was born. This year is special for both of us since it's our first birthdays we will spend as husband and wife. Since we are freshly married we aren't able to necessarily spend a ton on birthdays. We were fortunate, though, to get a digital camera for Brad's birthday to replace our broken one, and get a print of the bridal portrait which was his favorite to put into our frame.

We are absolutely blessed and I am honored to celebrate today the birth of my hubs. :) Below are some pictures including my handsome man since our wedding!

We love you Brad!

Happy Belated Birthday, Oscar!

Yesterday, August 27th, our Oscar turned two years old! We didn't celebrate yesterday since we were riding the Virginia Creeper Trail (blog about that later). Tonight after dinner he was treated to a few licks of mint chocolate chip ice cream and the happy birthday song!

We all wish his sister, Sadie, a Happy 2nd Birthday as well!
